Error 41.1 41.2 41.3
* Defective connections. Reseat J205,206,207 and laser scanner connectors.
* Paper multifeed or wrong size paper being used.
* Paper size selection doesn't match the paper being used.
* Cassette is overfull or improperly adjusted.
Possible causes of multifeeds:
Multifeeds
*
Fanning of paper. Do not fan paper before loading.
*
Piece-meal loading of paper. Try loading a full tray (cassette).
*
Re-feeding. Re-using pages that have already gone through the fusing process is very likely to cause multifeeds.
*
Improperly filled tray. When filling tray, fill to arrows on the tray and be sure that the media is flat and square in the tray.
*
Packing material. Make sure that all shipping material has been removed from the tray.
*
Paper retaining tab (metal hold down). Make sure that the media is loaded under this tab.
*
Adjustable trays need to have the side and rear guides properly adjusted (against the edge, but not binding).
*
Damaged or course media. Media with edge damage that the HP LaserJet III printer could handle may cause problems in the HP LaserJet 4m printer.
*
Multifeeds typically relate to the media being used. Several sites have had media with poor cut edges.
*
Remove the paper cassette and look inside this portion of the printer. Located in the paper cassette area are two black-plastic pieces. The first piece will be about 1/16 inch wide and hangs down in the middle of the paper cassette area. Make sure that this plastic piece moves easily.
*
The second plastic piece is about one inch wide and located on the left side of the paper cassette area near the rear of the printer. This piece is hinged in the middle and should move up and down easily.
LC Tray
*
Tray balance with full ream should be set when loading a ream. This is the only time to adjust this setting.
*
The metal hold down tab for paper can be bumped out of place if the LC tray is slammed into place.
